Janie Kidston: Tall RAKU Bottle

Janie Kidston: Tall RAKU Bottle

Tall RAKU bottle with a wide neck fired in a RAKU kiln, hand made by ceramicist Janie Kinston.

RAKU is a low firing method inspired by the traditional Japanese RAKU firing. The process involves removing the pottery from the kiln while at bright red heat and subjecting it to post-firing reduction (or smoking) by placing it in containers of combustible materials, which blackens raw clay and causes crazing in the glaze surface.

We only have one of each of Janie’s exquisite vessels, each one is made by hand in South London.

Whilst these ceramics are perfect for flowers, they are not food safe.
