Artist Flora Wallace’s mesmerising ink paintings are all made with locally foraged natural materials. From seasonally sourced berries, nuts, leaves, petals and minerals, to recycled plant matter from JamJar Flowers’ studio.

This piece is made with Knopper Oak Gall and Iron Water from Hampstead Heath, London.

Flora Wallace is a ceramic artist, ink maker, illustrator and florist. She began making inks as a result of a longstanding interest in plants and colour. For Flora the practice of making inks is a way of engaging time and place. 

Flora’s inks have been made using mordants such as alum, ferrous sulphate and iron. Thyme oil has also been added as it has antibacterial properties.

All inks are painted on white watercolour paper with deckled edges and mounted on cream 1400 micron mount board.

Framed inkworks are presented in a bespoke black flat grain wooden box frame 15mm x 34mm with a 9mm spacer and UV coated conservation glazing to offer maximum protection from exposure to light.

Do not hang in direct sunlight. The beauty of handmade inks made from plant based ingredients is that they can change with time.
